Dog training usually involves the basic obedience training to establish control over the animal and can then progress to more advanced specialist training. Basic obedience training includes teaching a dog: Recall – teaching the dog to come on command. Sit – teaching the dog to sit on command.
There are various training approaches to choose from—but the two most ethical are positive reinforcement and clicker training. “The right method and style of training will help a dog excel,” says Joe Nutkins, an accredited dog trainer and canine behaviorist.
All training should be reward based. Giving your dog something they really like - such as food, toys or praise - when they show a particular behaviour means that they're more likely to do it again. It's important to find out what your dog really likes and what their favourite things are.
POOCH PRO TRAINING are a teaching organisation offering practical training courses to those wishing to become dog training instructors and who want to gain a qualification which is recognised throughout the canine world
Courses are held annually and students are encouraged to instruct using positive reward based training methods and to take a holistic approach to their teaching with modern up-to-date techniques.
